Mundo Verde WindowMundo Verde is not only a green architect firm, but also a green supplier and store where you can find a wide variety of green products for your house. This way, customers can ask for a new green project to be developed from the beginning by Mundo Verde architects; some people might only look for a partial restoration or the installation of a specific system, while others maybe only need to buy a product, as they might have their own architect running their project.
Immersed into the global green movement, there is a new way of understanding architecture, it’s been called green or sustainable architecture. Wikipedia defines sustainable architecture as a “general term that describes environmentally conscious design techniques in the field of architecture. In the broad context, sustainable architecture seeks to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings by enhancing efficiency and moderation in the use of materials, energy, and development space.”
With time, it has become more and more important to use green products in order to preserve our environment and improve the quality of life of users. That's why Mundo Verde has made a commitment to integrate the new technologies in its designs and redefine others that allow to save energy, keep the natural resources, reducing waste and optimizing the performance of the traditional construction systems without harming the environment.
Mundo Verde is a Vallarta-based company founded in 2011 by Spanish - Mexican architect Javier Oliva, who has a long experience in big architectural projects both in Mexico City and Madrid, and his wife Laura Maiz. What’s different about Mundo Verde is that it integrates the concept of sustainable architecture into its designs, projects and products.
Laura and Javier fell in love with Puerto Vallarta in 1980, and ever since planned to move to the area someday. Finally in 2004, the time was right and they moved to Sayulita starting a new real-estate development called Colina La Iguana, and establishing the company Promociones y Construcciones Nayaritas (PCN).
Inside Mundo VerdePCN focuses on the study of architecture, making each project a thorough investigation of it, coupling architecture to its environment, seeking harmony between nature and work, balancing the aesthetic with the functional, integrating inside and outside spaces for flexible composition, with emphasis on detail, to thereby achieve our ultimate objective, which is to meet the needs raised by our customers and exceed their expectations.
PCN proposal took into consideration environmental, topographic and urban factors. The project conceived the whole area as a unit, as a garden in which the houses are distributed among smaller gardens and swimming pools that preserve the continuity of the landscape.
The Colina La Iguana residences were sustainable designed from its inception. They were built with a creative use of space and natural light that allows a fresh and permanent breeze to run through, reducing the air conditioner use to a minimum. Different green systems were also installed, such as drinking water, sewage recycling systems, salt-water swimming pools and green roofs.
That’s when they realized how hard it was to find the different suppliers they needed and the right products for their constructions.
So, Laura and Javier decided to start a new project focused specifically in the sustainable architecture niche: Mundo Verde.
The idea behind Mundo Verde projects is to integrate the ancient four elements energy (fire), hydraulic resources (Water), gardening (earth) and architecture (air), into a modern, environment-conscious and sustainable building that is both energy-efficient and cost-effective, but at the same time do not inhibit the opportunities of future generations.
